Bhopal is the capital city of Madhya Pradesh and also known as the City of Lakes. It was founded by Raja Bhoj in 11th century. The city has many natural and artificial lakes and it is one of the greenest cities of India. The old part of the Bhopal City being full of narrow street and crowded markets, while the new part of the city is better planned and is full of parks and gardens. The present city of Bhopal was founded by Emperor Aurangzeb. Although the kingdom was small, it survived several wars and became a princely state in British India in 1818.
